Volunteering at the Parish

FOLLOW JESUS – Be Part Of The Team & Volunteer!

Our Parish is very blessed to have some dedicated volunteers. However, we really need more volunteers to help share the load.
If you can help in any way, please fill in this form and hand it in to the Parish Office or at Church. Every little task is a big help!

The Parish is very thankful for all the volunteers who commit their time to serve in different ways.  As per state government legislation, all Parish volunteers are required to be in possession of a Department of Human Services Working with Children Check or a Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide Clearance Card.  Also, the Archdiocese of Adelaide requires that all Volunteers attend a Child Protection seminar on Responding to Abuse and Neglect.

There are several ways in which one can volunteer in the Parish:

  • Liturgical Involvement
  • Parish Community Councils
  • Counting Team
  • Others:  Minor maintenance/cleaning/upkeep of grounds, Churches and Parish Office, Morning Tea Preparation, Busy Bees, Washing of Church linen, support for Parish Feast Days/Celebration

If you wish to volunteer at the Parish in any capacity, please contact the Parish Office at 8346 0944 or email us at hello@croydonparkparish.com.au.  New volunteers are always welcome!

PARISH LITURGICAL INVOLVEMENT

Special Ministers of Holy Communion

Approved by the Archbishop, the Special Ministers assist with the distribution of Holy Communion during the Eucharist and to the sick and frail aged at home and in nursing homes.

Ministers of the Word

These parishioners proclaim the word of God during the Eucharist, in English and several other languages showcasing the multicultural nature of the Parish. There are rosters for each church and community.

Altar Servers

Young adults, teenagers and children form teams for each church, assisting during the celebrations of the Eucharist. Open to those who have completed their Sacraments of Initiation – who have been Baptised, Confirmed and received their First Holy Communion.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

At the start of each weekend Mass during the School Term, the children are able to go to a different space to hear the word of God, have it explained in a way they understand,  pray and sing together, being led by two Catechists. They rejoin their families at the Preparation of the Gifts.

Catechists undergo training offered by the Family and Parish-Based Catechesis Office.

Choirs

We have numerous choirs involved in our Parish which include people of all ages and cultures. Any musicians or singers who are interested are welcome to join.

Sacristan

Each church has a sacristan who is responsible for opening the Church and preparing for the Liturgy.  At Churches where are there are multiple sacristans, a roster is arranged.

PARISH COMMUNITY COUNCILS

Parish Pastoral Council

This Council develops policies for the parish, pastoral initiatives and advises the parish priest. It is comprised of lay members and ex-officio members (Parish priests, School Principals and Office Staff). It welcomes suggestions and recommendations from parishioners.  It meets 10 times a year.

Parish Finance Council

This Council, established by Church law, oversees the finances of the parish, sets priorities and ensures the proper auditing of the financial records. The Council oversees the Counting Teams who work in teams of 6-8 people each.

COUNTING TEAM

There are a few counters rostered to count during office hours. More helpers needed.
